Community Rules

Simple rules that keep AquaTrader fair and trustworthy for everyone

1. Be honest

Describe your items accurately. If livestock has a known health issue, disclose it. If equipment has a cosmetic scratch, say so. Sellers who mislead buyers will be removed from the platform.

2. List only what you have

Don't post listings for items you don't own or livestock that hasn't hatched, spawned, or arrived yet unless clearly stated. Phantom listings waste everyone's time.

3. Respond promptly

If you receive a message about a listing, reply within a reasonable time. If an item sells, mark it sold so others aren't wasting time inquiring. Ghost behaviour hurts your rating.

4. No prohibited animals

You are responsible for complying with all federal, provincial, and municipal regulations around wildlife and invasive species. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Species listed as invasive in your province.
  • Animals listed under CITES without proper documentation.
  • Any species illegal to possess or sell in Canada.

5. Respect other members

Harassment, threats, discrimination, and abusive language are not tolerated — in messages, listings, or reviews. Treat every member the way you'd want to be treated. Violations result in an immediate ban.

6. No spam or duplicate listings

Post each item once. Don't repost an active listing to push it to the top of search results. If your item hasn't sold and you want to refresh it, edit the existing listing.

7. No commercial resellers masquerading as hobbyists

AquaTrader is for hobbyists, not commercial operations. If you're a registered business, you must disclose that in your profile. Listings that appear to be retail inventory priced as wholesale will be reviewed.

8. Honest reviews

Leave reviews based on your actual experience. Don't leave fake positive reviews for yourself or fake negative reviews for competitors. Manipulated reviews undermine trust for everyone.

Enforcement

Violations may result in listing removal, account suspension, or a permanent ban — depending on severity. Repeat minor violations are treated the same as single serious violations. To report a violation, use the Report button on any listing or contact us at hello@aquatrader.ca.
